What method did you use to choose your god? Did you research the origins of your holy books?Compare religions?

Did you choose it or was it placed upon you by your culture, family tradition, or by informed choice?

How did you choose your bible among the dozens of current versions(some of which are VERY different)? Familiar with the Ethopian Coptic Church? The Orthodox Church?

I'm *still* researching! : )

Using my "God-given" capacity for logic and reason to determine just what makes sense to me and what does not is a life-long adventure. And taking the Belief-O-Matic test every 6 months or so, just to see how I'm evolving is fun too!

Reply:I was baptized Ethiopian Coptic and at age 9 i was informed that i would go to hell because i was not baptized catholic. So I got my second baptism (just in-case) and started reading about all religions. What I discovered is I do not like any organized religion . As long as I do no harm to others and treat them with respect and kindness (sometimes that is very hard to do) I don't think any Divine power would have a problem that I am not a Christian, Muslim, Buddhist etc.

And if there is no God....maybe i will have left some positive energy in this world.
Reply:You must be Muslim. I promised this morning not to be mean so I will play nice.

Jesus came to me personally. I simply responded. I was a New Ager at the time who hated Christianity but was looking for actual truth.

Our Bible has the original text and then people translate it differently but the text is unchanged. Jesus is, Jesus was, Jesus will come again. There is nothing you can do about that other then to hurry his return. That is the answer. If you think Jesus is awesome wait until you meet his Dad.

May GOD richly bless you.
Reply:I am not Christian. I do not follow the Bible.

I was born into Catholocism, though my mother was a practicing Santeria (Paganistic Religion) witch. I found fallacies in the Bible, and by approximately the age of 12 or 13, I converted to Paganism. I compared it to other religions, and it seemed like the one that fit me the best.

I stayed away from the religions with books.

Reply:yup
Reply:I grew up and realized that everyone who refutes Christianity is just trying to suck people into thier religion, like a used car salesman practicing scummy mudslinging tactics to keep you from buying the care you really wanted in the first place
Reply:you could say i got mine through birthright, i was cathlioc from the start
Reply:I made the decision to accept God into my life and into my heart. I accepted the salvation of my eternal soul thru His Son, Jesus.

I didn't "choose [my] god". I opened my mind and heart to the truth of the one true God.

You make it sound like your eternal soul is nothing more than a trip to the supermarket.
Reply:i was born in a christian family (mom protestant, dad catholic) we lived in a muslim country for a while and our parents made us learn the Quran in school eventhough christians are not obliged to. Then when i grew up i was very happy with being christian and i stuck by it. as for the bible i read the protestant version...they r not all that different from other bibles but the protestant church is more flexible.

BTW my brother chose to be a buddhist.

I know about Orthodox church, the easter timing is different from the catholic church, and the prayers and masses are different (like in Russia).
Reply:I was raised Roman Catholic, but logic and experience disagree with that religion. Currently, I don't associate with any organized religion or philosophy, as my beliefs are "all over the place".

I do believe in God, but a relationship with God is a very personal thing, and I don't want others telling me what to believe.

Kya Rose: Thanks for the link. I found the results quite interesting. The last on the list (for similarity of my beliefs) was .... Roman Catholic religion! LOL
