I hate always having to write an essay from a "on-the-spot" topic such as with standarize tests. You never know what it is before hand, so you have to be prepared to write just about anything but write it very well.
How can I improve on these methods? Whenever I do a class research essay, I ace it but on essays with standarize testing or exams, I do poorly if the prompts are on the spot.....

practice your essay writing on random subjects, for example when watching tv or listening to the radio, practice alot ... Good Luck=)
