PHYSICS (ELECTROSTATICS) - What is the traditional method used to obtain a positively/negatively charged rod?

Hi, I am a student studying IGCSE Physics at 5th form level at high school... in class we are currently studying about electrostatics.

We have been asked to research the traditional methods used to get a positively charged rod, also traditional methods to get a negatively charged rod.

This is all part of proving what charge is present on an object, and the conservation of charge.

Any contributions would be grateful, thanks in advance.

PHYSICS (ELECTROSTATICS) - What is the traditional method used to obtain a positively/negatively charged rod?
for +ve charge rub it against wool some electrons will b lost from the rod %26amp; it will gain +vecharge

for-ve rub it against silk some electrons will b lost from the silk and will b transferred 2 the ebonite rod which will make it -ve

hope this helps u.......
Reply:in order to get a positevely charged rod, u have to rub it against wool...and for a negatively charged rod u have to rub it against silk or fur....

i'm not sure whether i have placed the positively and negatively words correct...please do check them..
